An annual contest involving a network of ham radio operators operating from sites related to the Underground Railroad. The event is held on the weekend closest to June 19th—during the celebration of Juneteenth or Jubilee.
To foster understanding of African-American history as part of American history
to support the maintenance and preservation of historic sites on the UGRR
Rekindle interest in youth in science, math, history, and geography.
Fun with Amateur Radio
Any licensed amateur radio operator may participate in the contest.
One point is awarded for each contact completed with amateur radio operators located at any of the preregistered locations related to the underground railroad. These points are multiplied by a factor based on the type of site contacted (see table below.)

Amateurs operating from UGRR sites must preregister the name, location (including: address, grid locater, and latitude/longitude coordinates) a month before the event via this website. National Underground Railroad Freedom Center has an excellent list potential of sites, see: http://www.undergroundrailroad.org/ Below are some ideas for QTHs.
Amateurs operating from historical sites are encouraged to contribute to the site's maintenance organization.
All HF bands and modes may be used, including
VoIP modes such as Echolink and eQSO.
